As I walked into McCormick Place on the first day of the 2012 Special Libraries Association conference in Chicago, I was amazed by the grandeur of the venue and excited by the sheer number of information professionals in attendance. As a second-year MLIS student at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, SLA was my first conference as a future information professional, and I was in awe of all of the sessions and resources available. At the end of April (when the Texas heat felt heavenly), I had the honor of attending this year’s Teaching Research in Private Law Libraries (TRIPLL) conference, sponsored by the LexisNexis Librarian Relations Group, held near Dallas. I had a fantastic, energizing time learning and hob-nobbing with enthusiastic, proactive law librarians from the east coast and the west coast with a few in between. And while I’ve just worked eight months working for attorneys in a librarian capacity, I have worked for attorneys in the capacity of an assistant and paralegal for nearly eight years. Our very own Michael Enyart, the President-Elect of the Wisconsin Chapter, has been bestowed the
honor of Librarian of the Year by the Librarians’ Assembly at UW-Madison. He was given the award for the staff member with ten or more years of service. See the official announcement.
